The International Cricket Council has awarded the next three World Test Championship Finals in 2027, 2029 and 2031 to the England and Wales Cricket Board during the ICC Annual Conference in Singapore.
The first three editions of the WTC Final were held at different venues in England, with Lord’s hosting the 2025 final where South Africa beat Australia by five wickets last month. The England and Wales Cricket Board previously hosted in 2021, won by New Zealand, and 2023, won by Australia.
The ICC also made a decision on USA Cricket, who have been given three additional months to undertake comprehensive governance reforms, including but not limited to completing free and fair elections within the period. The ICC has joined with the United States Olympic and Paralympic Committee in pushing USA Cricket to do a full reset of the organization so that it can be recognized as the sport’s national governing body ahead of the 2028 Olympic Summer Games in Los Angels.
All independent directors of the board at USA Cricket have been urged to resign immediately as part of a leadership change throughout the organization, reported the Times of India recently. Cricket is among five new sports added to the LA28 program and needs to have a recognized NGB.
